My gift to you.
Toys.
Lots and lots of toys.
Beautifully rendered illustrations, all from Folk Toys les jouets populaires.
Published in 1951 by Artia books.
Thanks to Stephen Foster at Foster’s Bookshop for letting me take so many photos at his shop.
Happy holidays, everyone!
You certainly can’t get these from Toys R Us! The hideous deluge of plastic toys began with Barbie in 1959 – the joy of hand carved wooden toys can never be replicated in plastic. Toys these days, have a serious charm deficiency. What’s the alternative? Make your own!
Have a cool Yule!
Beautiful.
I’m with you, Deirdre! Handmade, home made toys are the most unique and imaginative. Encourage kids to make their own too!
