    Thanks for taking us with you on your trip. Especially love the embroidered papillon porte-epingles. What is an epingle?

  2. An epingle is a pin. So our pin-cushion is, in French, a “carry-pins.” Isn’t it lovely? It’s on display at the Carnavalet Museum. The note also says, “…made with pieces of King Louis XVI’s jacket by members of the Daughters of Charity in Neuilly.” So Louis must have been a beauty in his own right, not that it kept him (or his wife, Marie Antoinette) from the guillotine!
